Good to meet you…author Penny Estelle

I’m very excited today to have Penny Estelle round for tea and cake!    Penny is an accomplished writer for younger age groups, and has just published a story for adults.

Penny was also a school secretary for 21 years, and says of that time I heard every excuse and story in the book when kids were sent to see the principal.  I promised myself when I retired I would write stories about kids in this age group.

It’s great to hear of a school secretary actually going on to write books for children!penny estelle, romance, romance novels, ya

It’s a real pleasure to get to know you, Penny.  Let’s gloss over my own schooldays and those dreaded times outside the head’s office, and let me cut you a large slice of cake to go with your tea!

Where do you live, Penny?   I live in rural NW Arizona.  We are about thirty miles east of Kingman and twenty miles north of Wikiup, AZ.  We live off the grid – on solar and wind.  Are you thinking….”redneck”?

That sounds a fabulous place to live!  Where is your favourite place in the world?   I would have to say, it is STILL San Diego.  I’m not sure I would want to live there, by vacationing there, right on Pacific Beach, is Heaven to me!

Being a writer is a great job.  What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?  I signed up once with a temporary service when I was a teen, about 100 years ago.  They sent me to a telemarketing job.  I left after the first hour!

What book do you wish you’d written?  I would love to write a political paranormal story.  The problem is, it would be pretty slanted toward one party and I can’t take the chance of readers being turned off by my views.  I need to be much more popular before I take that chance! – LOL    Hopefully someday!

What’s your happiest memory?  That’s a toughie.  I have so many.  HMMMM, I was a single mother with three kids and every July I would pawn my jewelry to take my kids to San Diego for vacation.  They were all young and watching them play in the ocean was a vision I will have forever.  It was awesome!

FYI – I would buy my jewelry back in October and keep it safe for the next summer!

If you could meet anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and what would you say to them?  Hands down, I would hang out with my Dad.  He passed away 26 years ago.  I would have so many questions about the hereafter and catch him up on all that’s been going on!

What would your superpower be, if you could choose one?  Holy Moly!  Is it a super power to be able to eat anything you want and never gain weight?  LOL  Seriously, probably have the power to do time travel.  So many things one could do with that power!

If you won twenty million in the lottery, what would you do with the money?  Divide it among my kids. Have trusts for all my grandkids.  Give a chunk to my sisters and with the rest I would travel to all the places I have on my bucket list.  I would probably have electricity brought to our property line also.

What’s the most important lesson life has taught you?  Have the education or job that allows you to be able to take care of yourself and your kids, alone, if you have to.  Don’t be dependent on anybody but yourself!

And finally, please tell us about your latest book, where we can find it, and where we can find your blog/website!

My latest book that is out is titled At What Price?  It’s about Katherine Gardner, who is awaken at 6:30 in the morning by a female caller who says she has her six-year old granddaughter, Rio, and is calling the police if arrangements aren’t made for someone to pick her up.  Katherine’s daughter is hooked on drugs and has all but deserted Rio.

Rio comes to live with Katherine where she finds security and an abundance of love.  Unfortunately, Rio’s mother has other ideas.  At what lengths will Katherine go to protect the ones she loves?

At What Price?  Published by Solstice Publishing can be found at the following links

Ha..I thought we were being adventurous getting rid of cable TV and putting up an antenna. Never thought about solar and wind energy…not enough of either in Michigan I’m afraid. But we are definitely happy to get the cable TV out of our lives. Enjoyed the great questions and the interesting answers. Pawning your jewelry. Hmmm..made me wonder why/how you were able to buy it back in Oct. Best wishes in your writingl. Always enjoy Helena’s blog. Thanks for sharing.
