I live in Yorkshire, in the north of England, and often make proud boast of my northernness (as we northerners do!), forgetting that there are folk who live even further north in England than I do, such as my guest today, Susan Willis, who really does hail from The Actual North. (But as far as I know, unlike Game of Thrones, there are no longer wolves there, and winter isn’t coming just yet.)
Good to meet you, Susan, and thanks for coming south!
Where do you live, Susan? Co-Durham in the North East of England.
Beautiful county :)
Where is your favourite place in the world? Verona in Italy.
I’ve been watching The Trip to Italy, and absolutely falling in love with the country. Magnificent scenery. And the food!
Being a writer is a great job. What’s the worst job you’ve ever had? As a bed manager in our local hospital. Luckily, for my stress levels and blood pressure, it was only temporary for three months.
What book do you wish you’d written? One Day by David Nicholls
What’s your favourite song? ‘Your Song’ by Elton John
The first time Elton’s been chosen!
If you could meet anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and what would you say to them? George Clooney. I’d ask him if the big rock he has just bought his fiancé would fit my finger?
What’s your happiest childhood memory? Seaside caravan holidays in Northumberland with my Grandmother.
Great beaches!
If you had to marry a fictional character, from film, television, or books, who would it be? I would be Miss Elizabeth Bennet and Colin Firth would have to be Mr Darcy. I’d marry him tomorrow.
What’s the most important lesson life has taught you? Family and friends are the most important thing in life and should be treasured. Money, career, and material possessions need to take a back seat.
How true that is!
And finally, please tell us about your latest book, where we can find it, and where we can find your blog/website
My latest novella is called Baking Love published by Endeavour Press.
Think: Carey Mulligan meets Daniel Craig in this Cupcake Romance set in Michelle’s Cake Shop in Surrey.
