It’s a delight to have author Chantilly White with me today. Chantilly’s tagline is Pure Hearts ~ Sinful Pleasures and she certainly has a sinful pleasure for us today with her delicious Chocolate-Caramel Brownie recipe.
Chantilly is one of the contributors to our Bake, Love, Write dessert recipe book. Thanks for dropping in today, Chantilly. And by the way, I love your name!
Here we are with Chantilly’s recipe…

*Preheat oven to 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C / gas mark 4
Ingredients:
- 1-18.5oz (525 gsm) package chocolate cake mix
- 1/2C butter, melted
- 1C evaporated milk, divided (2/3C and 1/3C)
- 1-10oz (285 gsm) package chewy caramels (specials like Werthers); I like to put in a few extras to make the caramel extra thick, so pick up a second bag and add more evaporated milk (just a touch!) if you’re like me!
- 1-12oz (340 gsm) bag chocolate chips
Directions:
- Stir together the cake mix, butter, and 2/3C of the evaporated milk.
- Spread half of the mixture into an ungreased 13×9-inch (33 x 23 cm) baking dish.
- Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven.
- Meanwhile, heat the caramels and 1/3C evaporated milk in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until the caramels are melted and smooth.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the baked brownie.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce over the chocolate chips.
- Drop the remaining brownie batter by spoonfuls over the caramel.
- Bake again, 25-30 minutes, or until the center is set.
*Serve with ice cream for extra decadence!

Jacob is flipping out ~
College has challenges enough, but now his heart, body, and mind have gone emotionally, lustfully, entirely haywire for the one woman who is totally off-limits to him–his best friend since birth, Melinda. He has to resist his hormones, not only for the sake of their friendship, but to protect their tightly-entwined families, as well. He’s seen the fallout from friends turning lovers turning enemies before. It’s a disaster for all involved, and he won’t risk it with Melinda.
Melinda is flipping confused ~
She thought she loved Mitch, her rat-bastard ex-boyfriend, who dumped her flat on Christmas Day. Now her heart–and other unmentionable places–is begging for Jacob. Of course she loves him! He’s her best friend. But she knows he’s not the right guy for her–his path in life will take him far from their hometown, the only place she’s ever wanted to stay. As much as she loves him, it would never work.
Together, they’re flipping screwed ~
They agree on one thing—a romance between them would be a huge mistake. But when passion shoots their emotions from sweet to scorching during their annual multi-family ski vacation, all of their rationalizations come crashing down.
They’ll have to choose—rebuild the safe, secure friendship-wall between their throbbing bodies and yearning hearts, or blow it apart and risk everything they’ve ever known… for the chance at a love like they’ve never imagined…
Snow Angel is a friends-to-lovers small-town romance in the HDH series—stories with a heat-rating from sweetly sexy to downright scorching! Stay tuned for Desert Damsel, book two in the HDH series, coming Spring 2015!

What a fabulously decadent recipe, Chantilly. I love it. And I never would have thought of making caramel by melting some Werther’s Originals in evaporated milk. What a great idea. I’m going to use that idea for ice-cream and hot caramel sauce :)
Thanks so much for dropping in and sharing your recipe and the Snow Angel story. Love the wintery cover!
If you enjoyed Chantilly’s recipe, or have any questions or comments at all, please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you!
