What to do when you’re stood up (It involves eating cake)

helena fairfaxIf you follow my blog regularly you’ll know every Tuesday I interview a fellow author. Today, though, for the second week running, my author hasn’t shown up. Was it something I said?

So here I am, with a big pot of tea and a Red Velvet cake specially baked, and no one to talk to. For a while, I was  seriously thinking I might have to just talk to myself for a bit, but I think that might be boring for everyone, plus reveal me to be bonkers. Then luckily I remembered I had a great interview earlier this year with Caroline and Tina from A Reader’s Review. (If you love romance novels, you’ll love their blog, so please do check it out.)

So instead of talking to myself, I’m reblogging Caroline and Tina’s interview here, with a massive slice of cake each for both of them. (Thanks to both of you for the great questions!)

Here’s the interview, and I hope you enjoy!

Author Interview with Helena Fairfax

Hello, Helena, and thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to answer some of our questions.

Hi, Caroline and Tina. Thanks so much for having me. It’s lovely to be with you again!

After having just finished reading Palace of Deception, I must say how beautiful the setting is in Montverrier for your story. How did you decide where to set the story?

One summer there were terrible floods in the UK, but I’d been lucky enough to escape on holiday. I was watching the flooding on the news in my hotel room in Nice, where outside the sun was glittering on the sea. The south coast of France is such a beautiful coastline, and the light is like nothing you would find in northern England…

Thanks for having me on your blog, Tina and Caroline, and for getting me out of a fix!

I hope you enjoyed my interview by A Reader’s Review. If you have any questions or comments at all, please let us know. We’d love to hear from you!

Helena, I should thank the author for standing you up. :) Somehow this lovely review of Palace of Deception and your interesting interview with Caroline and Tina’s passed by me unnoticed. I enjoyed reading both.

Interesting about writing a YA novel. I also plan to write a YA novel from a short story that was published a number of years ago.

    Best wishes,
    Susan

Sorry you were stood up (not exactly a case of having your cake and eating it, more like a case of not having your cake and not eating it, I suppose…), but you can always talk to me if you’re short a good author interview. New book coming out shortly unless I manage to insult too many people…
