Today my visitor arrives to beautiful blue skies and warm sunshine.  It’s the perfect summer’s day.  So perfect, in fact, that I wonder if we are both dreaming.  My guest, Heather Greenis, is an expert dreamer, and has the uncanny ability to manipulate her dreams, and to remember them in extensive detail.  It was a dream which provided the inspiration for her latest novel.

Dream or not, I’m enjoying Heather’s visit very much!

Where do you live, Heather?  I’m Canadian. Born and raised in Ontario.

Thanks for coming all the way to Yorkshire :)  And where is your favourite place in the world? I’m going to get philosophical with this one. Every place is unique and special in it’s own way, but it’s the surrounding, experiences and people that make it truly special. I love travelling, but wouldn’t enjoy it without a companion.

If I’m alone put me in a park with a small lake or river, the sounds of birds, chipmunks and squirrels, and a good book to read.  I would appreciate the location in a different way if at an outdoor concert, surrounded by screaming fans.

I love water, rocks and mountains but also appreciate interesting architecture.

Your park sounds a great place.  Do you know, I have no idea what a chipmunk sounds like?  We don’t have them in the UK.  In our local park you mainly hear kids playing cricket and football!

Being a writer is a great job.  What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?  Ugh, you’re taking me back. My second job. I was in grade 10 and got a job in a small independent bakery.  Enjoyed the retail end, waiting on clients, but back then, donuts were hand dipped in honey. Not as great as it sounds.  The donuts were dipped while hot. We didn’t use tongs. I was certain I would lose the skin off my fingertips as I picked up the donuts, one in each and put them into the honey, flipped them over and set them on a tray to drip. Hot hot hot. I worked there for one summer and continued on Saturdays when school resumed. Thank goodness I didn’t get asked to help the baker every day I worked.

I feel for you with the hot doughnuts.  I once worked the machine that puts the jam in Jammie Dodgers (a sort of English biscuit/cookie).  That wasn’t as fun as it sounds, either!

What book do you wish you’d written?  Best Laid Plans – An hysterical light read.

I’ll put that on my list!  What’s your happiest memory?  The night my husband and I shared our first kiss. I realized I was falling and falling hard.

Aaah!  Nice memory.  If you could meet anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and what would you say to them?

Dead – Hitler – ‘What the hell were you thinking?  Please tell me you have major regrets!’

Alive – Obama – If you hadn’t walked into such a mess, what would you have like to accomplish within the USA.

I wish he was Canadian – He would win an election up here without campaigning.

What would your superpower be, if you could choose one? Flying – I fly in my dreams. It’s pretty cool.

If you won twenty million in the lottery, what would you do with the money? I would take a small portion and spread it among family. They wouldn’t be able to quit work, but would be more comfortable.  With the bulk of the cash, I’d set up a trust fund, have it professionally managed, informing this person I want to see the financials quarterly and have designated charities, the Healing Cycle for one as the beneficiaries. That is Heather’s Dream.

What’s the most important lesson life has taught you?  Don’t be greedy and be careful what you ask for.  God has a sense of humour. Sometimes, a lot of the time his response to prayers isn’t what I had in mind.

And finally, please tell us about your latest book, where we can find it, and where we can find your blog/website

Natasha’s Dream is not stand alone.  I leave the reader with unanswered questions. It’s a book about life, decisions and how actions can affect others. It’s about compassion, pride & values.  The book, the series can be read on different levels, making the reader think.

There are two different story lines.  Keeghan and William are a young, modern day couple.  Keeghan has an afternoon nap and in her dream where she meets the narrator Alexander.  He tells her a story of Natasha. A young woman who discovered life exists outside the walls of her home. She secretly rebels, but there are consequences.

Natasha’s Dream will be released in e-format on June 21st by MuseItUp Publishing, and will be available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and othe rmajor e-tailers.  In the meantime, you can pre-order the book here in the Muse bookstore.
